Katy’s Magic Moments Trip: Day 2
Monument Valley and Horseshoe Bend
We woke up to a beautiful sunrise this morning. We headed out on today’s road trip around 7:30am. Our first stop will be Monument Valley which is 2hr 30min away.
The drive up was beautiful, but very desolate. It was amazing how the scenery changed drastically as we drove.
We were so impressed with Monument Valley! It was more spectacular than we had imagined. We ate lunch at the historic Goulding Lodge. This is where many of the John Wayne westerns were filmed.
The original plan was to drive the scenic loop around the valley. But Katy and I really wanted to see Horseshoe Bend which was about 2 hours away. We decided to give up the loop drive and go to Horseshoe Bend. It was breathtaking, literally we are all so out of shape (except Brody) that pushing a wheelchair and carrying Mila for almost 2 miles in the heat took every ounce of strength we had. In hindsight I’m glad we went, but it was really hard.
From Horseshoe Bend we had another 2 hour drive back to the Airbnb. Here are some of the views we saw.
