Our Travel Day to Virgina: Bump in the Road
We left South Carolina early this morning. Our destination for the night was Edinburg, VA. Jason drove the first 3 hours and then he let me drive. It was a little frightening, but I believe I did pretty well.
Before we started out on this trip, I knew we would encounter problems. I told myself that with each one, we would turn to God and work through it without worrying.
Well, halfway through our trip today, we began to smell oil. Jason told me to pull over at the next exit. After looking at the engine, he determined that the turbo coolant hose was loose and the clamp that held it on was broken. There was oil all over the inside of the hood. We are so grateful that we realized it before we were stranded on the interstate.
We decided to find the nearest Ford dealership. It ended up only being several miles away. Once we got there, they told us that it would be five days until they could fix it. Jason asked if he could simply purchase the part and he would install it. They only had one left in stock! I believe this was God.
We then went to Lowe’s to buy a step ladder so he could reach the engine.
In the parking lot of Lowe’s, under the shade of a tree, Jason installed the new part. It only took him a few minutes. I am simply amazed at how talented he is. I don’t think there is anything he can’t do.
After he installed it and we were back on the road, we could tell a huge difference in the sound of the engine. It sounded so much quieter. We don’t know how we didn’t realize the problem earlier. We are so grateful to God that He helped us through what could have been a tragic event.
Even after the eventful trip, we made it to our campsite by 2pm.
It is next to a beautiful creek.
We stayed hitched up to the truck, so that we could leave bright and early tomorrow morning.
The campground was within walking distance to downtown Edinburg. It was a cute little town with many historic homes.
Walking down Main Street to find a restaurant.
This Italian Restaurant was very good! Their Calamari was probably the best I’ve ever had.
After dinner, Clark and Katy mailed their penpals a postcard.
