Travel Fever

I was raised in a family that loved to travel. Although we did not have much money, my father always found ways to keep us exploring new places. This is something I am so grateful for. I have memories of Yosemite, San Francisco, the Grand Canyon, the great Salt Lake, nearly every lighthouse up the east coast, Prince Edward Island, Washington D.C., Boston, Hawaii and so many more amazing destinations. I cherish these experiences! My father started a fever within my soul, it was a longing to travel.

During my teenage years, I went on mission trips to Maine, Massachusetts and Honduras. As soon as I was eighteen, I was planning trips of my own. From Myrtle Beach to the Great Rocky Mountains, my sister and I traveled to destinations on our own. When I was twenty-one, I moved to Boston all by myself to start my career. The next year I moved to Minnesota on the shores of Lake Superior. It was a wonderful opportunity that continued to fuel my love for travel.

Once I returned home, I went on more mission trips to Nicaragua and Costa Rica. I was also able to take a couple more trips with my sister. The most significant trip we took was to the Canadian Rockies. It was absolutely the most breathtaking place I had ever been to.

When I was twenty-seven I got married to my husband, Jason. We were able to travel many places together. We were able to go to places like the Great Smokey Mountains, Nashville, Florida and Minnesota. After six years of marriage, we traveled across the Atlantic to adopt our children in Ukraine. We were able to spend the night in Vienna, Austria on this trip. This was my first time in Europe. It was amazing!

A couple of years later, my husband and I were able to get away to the Canadian Rockies. Jason was just as impressed with the scenery as I was ten years before.

Last Christmas, we went on a trip with our four children and Jason's family to Colorado. It was quite the adventure.

Late last year we began seriously talking about purchasing a travel trailer. As soon as we got back from our Colorado Christmas trip, we went to the rv dealership and purchased our first rig. It was a Pioneer bunkhouse travel trailer. We soon began taking short trips every other month. But we really longed to travel more.

In the spring of 2018, Jason took a new job. The kids and I were faced with the opportunity of traveling with him on his business trips. Since we homeschool, this was definitely a realistic possibility. So we started making plans. But as we soon found out, this will be a venture of many unknowns. We could be in South Carolina one week and Canada the next week. It will be full of adventure.

So we start this journey in just a few days! I’m so excited! I want this blog to be full of travel ideas for my readers whether or not you own a camper. I want to write about inexpensive and free things to do at our destinations. I want to write about ways to organize small spaces. I also want to share ways to cook for a large family while on the road. I hope to have you follow us on our adventures.
