Exploring Osage Country
We started the day heading off the see Pioneer Woman’s Mercantile in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. It was about a 45 minute drive from our campsite. The kids weren’t very thrilled about it so I promised to get them a treat inside. The Mercantile lived up to my expectations. It was amazing!
The view at the ranch was equally beautiful. The ranch sits on the side of a hill so you can see for miles. The cashier said that the Drummonds own over 100,000 acres. I can’t even fathom this.
Then we toured the inside. It was just like what I remember from her shows.
The Mercantile and the ranch are located in an area called Osage. It is a region of Oklahoma governed by the Osage Native American Tribe. It was so interesting to read historical markers about the area. There were murals in the town of Hominy by Native American artist Cha Tullis. There was also a sculpture in the town called “New Territory” by the same artist.

We were greeted by a couple of the Drummond’s ranch dogs.

They had several picnic tables at the ranch. They encouraged everyone to stay and enjoy the grounds. So, we ate lunch there. It was so nice.

In Hominy, we found a pool! The kids were so excited.
