Bentonville and Beyond

As soon as I found out we would be in Tulsa, I knew I had to meet up with my cousin Angela. She lives in a suburb of Bentonville, Arkansas. Bentonville is only a little over 2 hours from Tulsa. I decided that since we would be so close to two other states, we might as well drive into them and add them to the states we've been to. So, I planned to visit Missouri and Kansas on the way back.

On the way to Bentonville we passed right through the town that the Duggar's live in, so of course I had to drive past their house. I know that I seem to be a little obsessed with visiting famous people's homes here lately, but I couldn't resist. There is something so surreal about seeing these places in person.

We met up with my cousin Angela and her youngest son James at Compton Gardens in Bentonville. Angela had planned a day full of  (free!) activities for us to do. It ended up being a gorgeous day.

We started in Compton Gardens and then we took the Art Trail to Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.

Entrance to Frank Lloyd Wright's home on the grounds.

The museum had a wonderful area for kids to be creative. They could draw, build, put on puppet shows and so much more. It was so much fun!

We got our lunch at two food trucks outside the Gardens. Angela and I had crepes and the kids had pizza. (Dana, I thought of you while I was enjoying my crepe. You would LOVE Bentonville! We'll have to plan a road trip when you come home next year.)

Angela gave all the kids a penny to make a wish in the fountain at the town square. I didn't get pictures but we also went to the Walton's 5 and 10 store and we got ice cream at Spark Cafe Soda

That afternoon we went to a kid's program at the Bentonville Public Library. The kids loved seeing the dogs do tricks. Clark even got picked to be the line leader to pet the dogs after the show. We ended our time in Bentonville at a playground near the square.

After we left Bentonville, Angela and James came with us up to Joplin, Missouri to eat dinner at Big R's BBQ restaurant. It was so good!

After dinner, we all went 8 miles away to Galena, Kansas. There we saw some of the characters from the CARS movie. This was the cutest place! The kids loved it. This ended our adventure for the day. We started our journey back to Fannie. It took less than 2 hours to get back. The kids were all soon fast asleep on the drive back.
